$2 Bill

2 Dollar Bill

I love $2 bills; they are worth twice as much as much as the famous $1 bill and yet only take up only ½ as much space in your wallet. The back of the $2 bill is a real work of art; President Thomas Jefferson adorns the face and the reverse is a reproduction of the painting of The Declaration of Independence by John Trumbull.

The best part is spending the $2 bill. When a cup of coffee costs more than $1, well, enter the $2 – it truly is more practical. However, the best part of any $2 transaction is the reaction from the cashiers, especially the younger ones, who presumably are unfamiliar with the note:
• (calling out to the manager) Can I take this $2 bill?
• Is this real?
• Oh boy, a $2 bill! Hey, (manager's name), can I keep it?
• One cashier insisted I shorted her on a buck and a half cup of coffee, until I told her to look more closely at the bill.
• Humpff! You don't see these very often.

Then there's the blank stare of confusion. One gal took out her counterfeit marker and gave the bill a swift swipe. Yep, it's real money… Some folks just scowl, probably because there's no place in the register for the bill, except under the tray with all the other misfit currency.

I keep a stack of $2 bills in my wallet; they make great tips, are conversation starters and really are a work of art.

You can get $2 bills at most banks.

I especially like folding the bills into an origami shirt, like this:
