January 2015: Happy New Year!

Ron Flowers grew up in these parts but headed off to the Windy City to make his fame and fortune. Now a retired manufacturers representative, he spends his time buying and selling antiques, writing, doing a little charity work and enjoying his grandchildren. Ron submitted two poems, On the Banks of the Ohio and Where the Rhododendrons Grow.

March 2014: Dr. Jack Furbee contributed another story, Wood Gathering Day.

February 2014: Appalachian native and author, Dr. Jack Furbee contacted us and agreed to share some of his stories along with links to his published works with appalachian themes. You can find his bio and Van Camp Lost and Found story here.

Capturing the essence of Appalachia through documentary, photography, videography, poetry, and commentary; we love West Virginia!  Come see why…

Welcome to our and visitors!

We are an online magazine, part-time blog, and event, restaurant, and places review journal.

Have you ever asked a local native about a world famous landmark in his town?  Often, they will comment how they have never visited the attraction.  Isn’t it funny how we so often overlook the real beauty in our own backyards?

Bill & Ann

We live in West Virginia by choice, after a lifetime of traveling the world on the whims of the U.S. military.  Our dream is to examine, chronicle and document this wonderful state, occasionally spilling into adjacent states, while capturing the blessings of God via Mother Nature in video, picture and commentary. Tell us what you think with the Contact Us page.

Here, we offer a personal, first-hand look at places and events, hopefully written in an easy and fun to read dialogue.

iphone users

We make use of Adobe software in several places on this site and to create this site; Adobe and Apple don't get along well, as evidenced by the lack of Java and Flash support on the iPhone/iPad. So, "us" iPhone & iPad users cannot see the photo albums. Sorry, folks.
